Its been a week... So What have we learnt....
Ok so Ancient Wisdom has been on iTunes for just over a week now, I'm still blown away by the response for the community about this application. There have been reviews, comments and donations. All of these have been refreshing, interesting and thoughtful.
So what have we learnt. Well the Apple community is AWESOME, but you all knew that. Here are the things that stand out as far as learnings.
- Developing applications for this type of community is going to be fantastic. (sweet)
- Version 1.0 is going to have flaws. (true)
- Find more people to test the application. (hard)
- Listen to the community. (easy)
- Keep improving and building on what you have. (tough)
These would be the main points, on top of that, even though its been a week it feels like much more. Because we have made some changes because of what the users have said, but it takes so long for these changes to go through the system. I understand that there is a process, but it's difficult when you know you have a better version ready but cannot show it. This down time at least makes you investigate other options, new apps and better ways to do things.
Ok so for some numbers. Ancient Wisdom week 1, had 25183 downloads. This is unreal. When I first put this up I thought that if I get 5 - 10 thousand that would be awesome. So this response was not expected, which is why the new version was out sooner than later.
For us this means that our expected release for version 2.0 will be pulled forward about a month or so.
The only other main concern is the name of the application, as the current name is truncated, we will need to shorten this to something a little better.
